CRIBoard Website Cookie Details
The short version:
- Required cookies keep the website working, and are always on.
- Analytics and advertising cookies are optional. They are only used if you allow them.
- You choose on the privacy options page, and can change your choice any time.
- Your game never goes into a cookie. It stays in your browser's storage, and we never see it.
- The venue sign-up page also uses Google reCAPTCHA, to stop bots.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small piece of text that a website asks your browser to keep.
The browser sends it back to the website on later visits, so the website can remember something.
This page lists every cookie the CRIBoard website sets.
The required ones are set by criboard.com itself, except for Google reCAPTCHA's on the venue sign-up page.
The analytics ones are set by Google Analytics, but only if you allow them.

Required cookies
Required cookies keep the website working, so they are always on.
Because the website can't work without them, they don't need your consent.

If you block these cookies in your browser, the website can't remember your choice, and the board will not open.
The venue sign-up page
The page where a bar, brewery or game room signs up for a branded board, /venues/, uses Google reCAPTCHA to check that each sign-up comes from a person and not a bot.
It is only loaded on that page, and is never part of the board.
Because it keeps the sign-up safe from abuse, it is treated as required, like the cookies above.

Google may also use cookies it has already set on google.com. It handles this information under the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Browser storage, which is not a cookie
The website also uses your browser's storage to save the game in progress, its scores, player names, and undo history.
It saves a note that you have seen the welcome message there too.
This is not a cookie, and it is never sent to us.
It stays on your device until you clear your browser's data for criboard.com.
Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand which features people use and where problems occur, so we can improve the game.
They are only used if you allow analytics or all cookies. Until you do, nothing is loaded from Google.

With analytics on, we count the pages you open. Google Analytics also receives details such as your device, your browser, and your approximate location.
We use Google Analytics's reports to see how the website is used. We don't use them to identify you.

If you turn analytics off later, the website removes these cookies and stops sending page views.
Advertising cookies
Advertising cookies support advertising and measure its performance.
They are only used if you allow all cookies.
Any we use will be listed in the table above.

- The privacy options page lets you allow all cookies, allow required and analytics cookies, or use required cookies only.
- You can play with any choice, and change it any time on that page.
- Your choice applies to the browser you made it in. Another browser or device asks again.
- After a year, we ask again.
- Your browser's settings can block or delete cookies for criboard.com. If you delete them, the website asks again.
- These settings apply to the web version of CRIBoard, not the app.
