CRIBoard App Privacy Policy
This policy is for the CRIBoard app for iPhone and iPad. It does not cover the website at criboard.com. Using the website? See the CRIBoard Website Privacy Policy.
The short version:
- Your games, scores, score card, player names, and settings stay on your device. We never see them. If you play on two devices with SharePlay, the game goes to those devices, encrypted.
- We don't ask for an account, your name, or your email.
- Our partner Superwall runs the screens that offer paid extras. It collects device and purchase information to do that job. It does not use it for advertising.
- Apple handles all payments. We never see your card details.
- We don't sell your information, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
Who we are
CRIBoard is a cribbage scoreboard app for iPhone and iPad, made by Essare LLC ("we", "us").
This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have.
Questions? Email us at info@criboard.com.
Information that stays on your device
The app saves these things on your device only, so it can pick up where you left off:
- The game in progress, its scores, and its undo history.
- Player names and colors.
- Your saved players, and the score card of finished games: when each ended, everyone's score, and any skunk.
- Your settings, such as board theme, game length, and haptics.
This information is never sent to us.
Deleting the app deletes it.
Playing on two devices with SharePlay
If you choose to play one game on several devices with SharePlay, the app sends the game to the other devices in the session: player names and colors, scores, and the game's settings.
Apple carries this information between the devices with end-to-end encryption, so neither we nor Apple can read it.
The other devices keep a copy of the game, as if it had been played on them.
Nothing is shared until you start or join a SharePlay session.
Information collected by Superwall
We use Superwall to show the screens that offer CRIBoard's paid extras, and to check which extras you have unlocked.
To do that, the Superwall software in the app collects information about your device, your use of those screens, and your purchases.
Superwall does not identify you by name or email, and it does not use your purchase history for advertising.
What Superwall collects
| Kind | Examples |
|---|---|
| Identifiers | A random app user ID created on your device, and the vendor ID Apple gives this app. |
| Device and app details | Device model, operating system and app version, light or dark mode, Low Power Mode, and language and region settings. |
| Usage | Install date, when the app was first opened, which paid-extra screens were shown and when, and whether you have an active purchase. |
| Purchases | Which CRIBoard extras you bought, and whether a purchase was made in Apple's test environment. |
| Approximate location | Country, region, city, and time zone, worked out from your internet connection. Not your precise location. |
| Game details | The number of players and the points needed to win, so the right offer can be shown. Never player names or scores. |
Superwall's handling of this information is covered by the Superwall Privacy Policy.
Why it is collected
- App functionality: to show offers for paid extras, process purchases through Apple, restore purchases, and unlock what you bought.
- Analytics: to understand how the offer screens perform, so we can improve them.
Purchases and payments
All purchases are made through Apple's App Store and are handled by Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy.
We and Superwall receive confirmation of what you bought, but never your payment card or billing details.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your information.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we don't show ads.
- We don't use your camera, microphone, contacts, photos, or precise location.
Sharing
We share information only:
- With Superwall and Apple, as described above, to run the app's paid extras.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
- With a buyer, if CRIBoard is ever sold, under this same policy.
How long information is kept
Information on your device stays until you delete the app.
Superwall keeps the information it collects for as long as needed to provide its service, as described in its privacy policy.
Your choices and rights
- Delete the app to remove everything stored on your device.
- You can reset your device's advertising and vendor identifiers in iOS settings.
- Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to object to its use. Email info@criboard.com and we will help, including with requests to Superwall.
Because the app doesn't ask who you are, we may need details from you, such as the date of a purchase, to find information related to you.
Children
CRIBoard is a family-friendly game, but it is not directed at children under 13.
We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
International users
Superwall may process information in the United States and other countries, which may have different data protection laws than where you live.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top.
If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app.
